Matthew was born in Visalia, California on April 26, 1981. He attended Redwood High School in Visalia, and later the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. In May of 2004, Matthew received his Bachelor's Degree in English Literature.

Matthew interned in a Century City law firm specializing in employment and securities disputes before attending California Western School of Law in San Diego. He clerked in a Mira Mesa law firm specializing in agri-business, contract litigation, and personal injury during law school. Matthew was admitted to the State Bar of California in June of 2009, and immediately began practicing as an attorney with Sullivan & Sullivan, Law Corporation.

Matthew has experience in many areas of law including family, agri-business, securities, criminal law, contract law, and civil litigation.

In his spare time, Matthew enjoys traveling, hiking, skiing, basketball, cinema, and the arts.
